In the post COVID-19 environment, how are the revenue authorities in the Asia Pacific responding to, and dealing with, the challenges posed by the pricing of cross-border supplies of goods and services between related corporations? Is it simply “business as usual” in the New World for lawyers advising their clients on transfer pricing and customs, or is New Wisdom required? Liyao Wang

Liyao specializes in Australian and Chinese Taxation, Commercial & Corporate Law, Cross-border Investment, Litigation, Migration and Chinese legal matters generally.

Liyao is head of Finlaysons’ China Business and Migration practice and is also co-author with Michael Butler of the Australian Country Chapters for “Transfer Pricing” and “Permanent Establishment” with the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD).

Note: The IBFD, established in 1938, is the world’s foremost authority on cross-border taxation and is the home of international taxation, which tax practitioners from all over the world rely on for high-quality independent tax knowledge and research.

Liyao was born and grew up in China and received her education from primary school to post-graduate university in China. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws (International Economic Law) from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Master of Laws (Economic Law) at Yunnan University, and later commenced a Doctorate of Civil Law at University of Munich.

Liyao then studied law in Australia, and qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia.

Because Liyao grew up and was educated in China and Germany, and has also studied law in Australia, Liyao understands both the civil law and common law systems. Liyao is therefore uniquely placed to provide legal and commercial advice to clients.

Jeffrey Snyder

Jeff Snyder is a partner in the Washington office of Crowell & Moring LLP. Since 1986, Jeff's practice has concentrated on the U.S. regulation of international trade, including export controls and sanctions laws. Jeff began his legal career at Graham & James (1986-1998).

He is ranked and recognized as a leading international trade lawyer, based on extensive client interviews and peer votes, in the following publications: The Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA and Chambers Global, Super Lawyers, and Expert Guides. Jeff has also been consistently recognized by The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers.

Jeff served as the jurisdictional council member (JCM) for the United States and served as co-chair of the IPBA's International Trade Committee from 2010-2014; he remains a member of the Advisory Committee.

He is also the general editor of the Kluwer Law International publication, the Global Trade and Customs Journal. Jeff is a member of the WCO PICARD Scientific Committee.

Jorge Mayora

Jorge joined Allende & Brea in 1997 and became a partner in 2011.

His practice includes a broad range of matters including banking and financial law in general and has advised a variety of financial institutions on all aspects of lending, including short-, medium-, and long-term loans, derivative transactions, structured and other commercial lending transactions and other various collateral structures. He also represented issuers in local and international offerings involving the registration with multiple securities regulators. Jorge also advised local and foreign banks on regulatory and foreign exchange issues with the Argentine Central Bank, and he regularly advises clients on foreign exchange controls in the context of cross border trade issues.

He has been cited as a leading practitioner in Banking & Finance law by, among others, Chambers Latin America, The Legal 500 Latin America and International Financial Law Review (IFLR1000).
